Judith
was born in Worcester, Massachusetts and has resided for most of the
past 30 years in the scenic Blackstone Valley area of Central
Massachusetts, where she works in her home studio.
Putting aside an early interest in art, Judith earned a B.S.
degree and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
After 23 years of working totally in her left brain as a business
systems analyst, she felt driven to renew and explore her more creative
side.
Nine years ago she accepted an early retirement and began taking
painting classes and workshops largely focusing on the landscape in oil,
acrylic, and watercolor.
From her very first show, Judith began winning awards, starting
with the Hopedale Arts Council purchase prize award in 1997, followed in
later years by awards for oil painting and portraiture.
More recently, she earned a certificate in
Natural Science at Rhode Island School of Design, and has taught Drawing
Nature with Colored Pencils there.
In keeping with a long-time passion for gardening and plants, her
art and illustration now focus primarily on botanical subjects in
acrylic, colored pencil, or watercolor. Judith holds memberships in the American
Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), the New England Chapter of ASBA,
and the National, and New England Guilds of Natural Science
Illustrators.
